BROOKHAVEN — Services for J.E. Pickering Jr., 75, of Brookhaven, who died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in Brookhaven, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Damascus Baptist Church in Franklin County.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Riverwood Family Funeral Service.

Visitation will from 5-9 p.m. Monday at Riverwood Family Funeral Service and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Pickering was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Mississippi, the son of Judd Eldridge Pickering and Rhoda Pickering.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Lois Smith, Josephine Turnage, Audrey Sykes, Mary Ruth Smith, Martha Ann Sykes; two brothers, Barney Pickering and Roy Pickering; and one grandson, Billy Thompson.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joy Ann Grice Pickering; three sons, Kerry Wayne Pickering and wife, Julie, Greg Pickering and wife, Laura, John Barry Pickering and wife, Robbi; eight grandchildren, Blake Pickering and wife, Nicole, Hayley Pickering, Libby Hobkirk and husband, David, Chelsea Pickering, Junior Pickering, Kaycee Pickering, Laura Coley and Jodie Thompson; two brothers, James Pickering and Eugene Pickering; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
