ROXIE — Funeral services for J.W. “Billy” Scott, 84, of Roxie, who died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, in Meadville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Roxie Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hamburg under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at Franklin Funeral home.
Mr. Scott was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Roxie, the son of R. Newman Scott and Mazie Rowland Scott.
He was a retired welder at International Paper Company in Natchez.
He was a lifelong resident of Natchez and Roxie and was a member of the Roxie Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a member of the Morgan Fork Coon Hunters Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Mizell Scott; and one brother, Rowland Scott.
Survivors include one son; Vic Scott and wife, Kaye, of Roxie; one daughter, Tina Patterson and husband, Marc, of Ocean Springs; grandchildren, Jennifer Beach and husband, Josh, Scott Patterson, Amanda Flynn and husband, Adam, Blaine Patterson and wife, Kristin, Amy Prescott and husband, Colton; great-grandchildren, Morgan Duck, Jaxson Beach, Corvan Prescott, Stratton Flynn, Tullen Prescott and Brandt Beach.
Pallbearers will be Scott Patterson, Blaine Patterson, Adam Flynn, Josh Beach, Colton Prescott and J.C. Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Roxie Baptist Church, James Taylor, Ralph Hale, James West and Bo Alford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s or to the Roxie Baptist Church.
