NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Leah Rachel Goodger, 79, of Clayton, who died peacefully Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Natchez City Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Sharp officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Ms. Goodger was born March 21, 1934, in Ferriday, the daughter of David Goodger and Rosalie Goodger Wagley. She was a member of Clayton First Baptist Church.
Leah also enjoyed gardening with her husband; was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family; and an animal lover, who enjoyed caring for her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Melvin Thornhill; two sons, Bull Thornhill and Robert Allen Thornhill; four sisters, Rose Moss, Helen Capps, Margie Bolyer, and Eloise Short; and two brothers, Leo Goodger and Don Goodger.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Lee Thornhill and wife, Stacey, and Danny Ray Thornhill; one daughter, Donna Sue Smith and husband, Joel; one brother, James Goodger of Texas; two sisters, Pearl Tageant of Vidalia and Martha Smith of Monterey; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
