FERRIDAY — Services for Mary Lou Warren, 86, of Lismore, who died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Young’s Funeral Home chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Russell Crum, the Rev. Raymond Beard and the Rev. C.D. Beard officiating.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Warren was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Quitman County, Ga., the daughter of Edward and Nora Shadrick.
Mary Lou was a member of Monterey Christian Church. She was a devoted Christian, loving wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, painting, sewing and writing poetry. She was known as “Mama Lou” to all who loved her. Her testament to life was to “love God and love your neighbor.”
Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Wesley W. Warren; four brothers, Edwin Shadrick, Ben Shadrick, Kim Shadrick and Buck Shadrick; four sisters, Emma Kate Shuford, Eltrym Day, Gloria Jarrell, Frankie Shadrick; one son-in-law, Otha Sober and special friend, Adeline Gallup.
Survivors include four daughters, Trissie Knapp and husband, Alton, Olivia Sober, Amanda Beard and husband, Raymond, Una Knapp and husband, Ricky; one son, T. Wes Warren and wife, Janice; two brothers, Joseph Shadrick and wife, Marilyn and Loren Shadrick and wife, Gerry; two sisters, Jane Canington and Ruth Beard and husband, C.D.; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Ruth (Lovice) Beard and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers will be seven grandsons, Zane Ames, Bryant and Perry Sober, Thomas Warren II, Bobby Green, Isaac Beard, Steven Knapp and eight great-grandsons, Rod and Logan Williams, Jamie and Sam Philey, Thomas Temple, Taylor McCaughey, Beau Beard and Jake Harrod.
