Burial will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Ms. Hinton was born on Jan. 7, 1928, in Delta, La., the daughter of George A. and Dottie Curry Hargrove.

God saw that Ethel Lea Hinton was tired and called her home after a short illness. She was a resident of Ferriday for 44 years. She was an active 85-year-old church member of Westside Baptist Church, a former Bell South telephone operator and a Riverland Hospital CNA.

But the most important role of all she held was mama, mom, maw maw, little maw maw, and lake maw maw to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She had a special love for her family, friends and church members. She loved to play dominoes, catch phrase and loved to travel, so she was always ready to go when asked. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed terribly by all who knew her and loved her.

Ms. Hinton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Clyde Hinton; brother, Grover Hargrove; two sisters, Sybil Hargrove and Vera Sells.

Survivors include two sons; Douglas Hinton and wife, Amanda, of Monroe and Gary Hinton of Ferriday; daughters, Debra Smith and husband, Bryan, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jennifer Bradley and husband, Donald, of Zachary; sister, Maxine Taylor; six grandchildren, Bryan Smith and wife, Jennifer, Rickey Hinton and wife, Rebecca, Jaimee O’Banion and husband, Justin, Andrew Hinton and wife, Laureen, Derrick Bradley and Steve Hinton; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Hinton, Reece Hinton, Addison and Aubrey Smith, Abram Hinton and Jolee O’Banion, due in Dec. 2013; and a number nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Bryan Smith, Rickey Hinton, Steve Hinton, Andrew Hinton, Derrick Bradley and Justin O’Banion.
