VIDALIA— Funeral services for Beatrice Smith Marshall, 76, of Hopewell, Va., formerly of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the Medical College of Virginia in Hopewell, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Christopher Robinson officiating.

Burial will follow at the National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Marshall was born Apr. 30, 1937, in Vidalia, the daughter of Andrew and Sarah Williams Smith.

Ms. Marshall was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Marshall, Sr.; her parents; and two brothers, Larry and Samuel Smith.

Survivors include four sons; Carl A. Marshall and wife, Linda, of College Park, Md., Edward Marshall, Jr. and wife, Kathy, Ronald Wayne Marshall, all of Hopewell, and Derrick S. Marshall and wife, Ruth, of Prince George, Va.; daughter, Verna M. Roach of Hopewell; three brothers, Andrew Smith, Jr. and wife, Cynthia, of Lake Charles, La., Archie Smith of Dillion, S.C., and the Rev. Sam Baker and wife, Mary, of Destrehan, La.; two sisters, Sarah S. Jones and husband, Albert, of Vidalia, and Willie M. Basley of Ferriday; sister-in-law, Rolando Smith of Waynesboro, Va.; devoted niece, Carla Poole-Parker of Vidalia; two best friends, Bea Baker and Grace Speight; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
