10:18 Lee Williams IIINATCHEZ — Funeral services for Lee “Mickey Champ” Williams III, 70, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday with a “Celebration of Life” wake service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lee Williams III was born June 16, 1943, in Natchez, the son of Lee Williams Jr. and Dorothy Evans Williams.

He was educated in the Natchez Adams County School District and in New Orleans. He worked at The Sanitary Mattress Co. from 1962 until departing for the U.S. Army in 1966. Upon returning from the military, he was employed with Goodwill Industries and Sears as a truck driver. He also worked as a taxicab driver with Elk Morrison Taxi Co. for numerous years in New Orleans.

Lee accepted Christ and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Harry Grover of Tate Magnolia Baptist Church on Aug. 25, 1989.

He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Levi Williams and James Ware; his stepfather, Joseph Champ Jr.; one nephew, Sanches Champ, two uncles, Charles Evans and Bill Evans.

Survivors include a loving and devoted mother, Dorothy Champ; four daughters, Brenda White, and husband, Johnny, Ashley Marsaw, and husband, Jermaine, of Natchez, Mrs. Troy Paxton of Jackson, and Micki Williams of Virginia; two sons, Dr. Christopher Williams and wife, Jamie, of Gulfport, and Willie D. Johnson and wife, Janice, of Natchez; nine grandchildren, Javera, Tori, Brooke, Christopher Jr., Jade, Jasmine, Willie, Omari and Vincent; Four sisters, Joann White and husband, Cortez, and Fannie R. Champ of Natchez, Elaine Williams and Anneice Williams of New Orleans; three brothers, Johnny Lee Williams, Tyrone Williams and wife, Constance, and Michael Peters of New Orleans; one sister-in-law, Cynthia Williams of New Orleans; one uncle, John Evans and wife, Cordelia, of Natchez; three aunts, Thelma Clark and Julia Evans of Natchez; one godbrother, J.D. Murray and wife, Mary; caregivers, Miller Jean Moore and Darleen Toles all of Natchez and a number of nieces and nephews.
