FAYETTE— Funeral services for Ruby Hammitte, 53, who died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Greater Faith Worship Center in Fayette, with the Rev. J.L. Hammitte officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Greater Faith Worship Center in Fayette.
Mrs. Hammitte was born July 9, 1960, in Adams County, the daughter of Willie Graham Jr. and Floranna Ellis.
She was active in the Jefferson County Mass Choir, Order of the Eastern Star, Greater Faith Worship Center Gospel Choir, Family Connection Choir as well as an Alcorn State faculty member and student.
She is preceded in death by her mother; adoptive mother, Estella Braxter; grandparents, Willie Graham Sr. and Sarah Graham; father-in-law, J.L. Hammitte Sr.; uncle, John Graham; aunt, Dorothy Hammitte and great aunt, Kelly Graham.
Survivors include husband, Alphonse Hammitte; four daughters, Sherry Wilson husband, Clifton, Demetria Hammitte, Ashley Hammitte, and Leilani Anderson and husband, Jarvis; one son, Alvin Hammitte and wife, Renae; 12 sisters, Doretha Wells, Sharon Crosby, Maxine Graham, Tina Barnes, Camelody Tarleton, Carla Edwards, Delora Brown, LaTonya Devine, Shirley Graham, Doris Jean Spencer, Barbara Ann Hayes, and Linda Allen; three brothers, Dennis Tarleton, DeMarcus Tarleton, and Calvin Hammitte; nine grandchildren; three special aunts; two friends, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
