NATCHEZ—Funeral services for Lucille Evans Ashley of Ridgecrest, La., who died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, in Destin, Fla., where she had resided with her daughter for the past 15 months, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Don Bush officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ashley was born in Lincoln County, the daughter of Lucretia Porter Evans and Hilary Evans.

She attended school in Brookhaven, MS. and later became a registered nurse. She married James E. Ashley of Wilkinson County, MS. They lived a number of years in Germany while James was in the military, and she traveled extensively in Europe and the Caribbean. Lucille loved to travel, cruise, dance and play golf at Panola Woods Country Club. She was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Eastern Star Chapter 37 in Vidalia.

Mrs. Ashley inspired her family with her courage, tenacity and strength. She had a great love for life and will be remembered by her great spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; one daughter, Gerldean “Geri” Randall; one grandson, Stan Allen; and one great-great-granddaughter, Lillian Napier.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Dale Watson and husband, Abe Watson of Destin, FL.; seven grandchildren, Jack Wellborn Jr., James Wellborn and wife, Renee, and John Wellborn, all of Destin, Fla., Sheri Johnson and husband, Johnnie, David Allen and wife, Margaret, of Natchez, Dana Allen and wife, Dana of Lafayette, Josh Randall and wife, Katherine of Baton Rouge; one step-granddaughter, Alicelyn Hudson and husband, Ames of Destin; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashlee and husband, Paul, Emily and husband, Dustin, Caroline, Ashton, Jack III, Josephine, Hillary, Chelsea, Jordan, Brook and Easton; three great-great grandchildren, Chloe, Carter and J.P.; and a number of cherished nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jack Wellborn Jr., John Wellborn, David Allen, Dana Allen, Josh Randall and Paul Scarpulla.
