WOODVILLE — Linesia Palmer lit up McComb to the tune of a game-high 29 points to lead the Wilkinson County Lady Wildcats to a 55-44 win over the Lady Tigers Thursday night.
The second quarter was the turning point of the game as Wilkinson County outscored McComb 21-11 to turn a 9-6 lead after one quarter of play into a 30-17 lead at halftime. The Lady Tigers were not able to recover from that deficit in the second half.
Myesha Norman scored seven points while Ambernicka Palmer and Freddricka Scott had six points each for the Lady Wildcats.
Wilkinson County (2-2) plays host to Natchez High at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
ACCS 66, Central Private 24
BAKER, La. — Tory Laird had a double-double with 22 points and 12 steals as the Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels defeated the Central Private School Lady Rebels 66-24 Thursday night.
ACCS’s press defense made it tough for Central Private to not only get shots off, but to get the ball past half court for most of the game. The visiting Lady Rebels jumped out to an 18-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and then led the host Lady Rebels 42-12 at halftime.
Mackenzie Boyd and Ashleigh Williams each had nine points for ACCS. Central Private was led by Lauren West and Sam Romero with eight points each.
ACCS (5-0) hosts Bowling Green School at 6 p.m. Monday.
Centreville Academy 52, Trinity Episcopal 31
CENTREVILLE — After one quarter of play, it appeared that Trinity Episcopal maybe, just maybe, was on its way to picking up its first win since the end of the 2011-2012 season.
Instead, the Lady Saints struggled to get shots to fall in the final three quarters and ended up falling to the Centreville Academy Lady Tigers 52-31 Thursday night.
Trinity was only down two points, 16-14, at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Saints were held to six, six, and five points in the second, third and fourth quarters, while the Lady Tigers had 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Laramie Greer led Centreville with 12 points and Braelon Bigner had 11 points. Trinity was led by Tali Beard with 11 points and Marty Lewis with eight points.
Trinity Episcopal (0-1) plays at 6 p.m. Monday at home against Silliman Institute. Centreville Academy visits Amite School Center at 6 p.m. Monday.
Tensas Academy 32, Briarfield Academy 30
ST. JOSEPH, La. — Taylor Olds scored nine points and Katie Irby had seven points as the Tensas Academy Lady Chiefs overcame a rough first half to rally for a 32-30 win over the Briarfield Academy Lady Rebels 32-30 Thursday night.
Tensas Academy trailed Briarfield 10-7 at the end of the first quarter and 21-15 at halftime. The Lady Chiefs cut the lead to four points at the end of the third quarter and then outscored the Lady Rebels 8-2 in the fourth quarter to pull off what seemed like an improbable win.
Tensas Academy (2-2) plays at 6 p.m. Monday at Briarfield Academy.
