Lorene was born July 28, 1923 in Jefferson Davis County, the daughter of Ivy and Lena Pierce Lauderdale.

Children were the joy of her life. She held the most important position in life — mother. The door to our home was always open and welcoming to any children. She was the eldest of five children. At age 15 she married Glenvall Estes and moved to Natchez where she helped to take care of his two younger brothers as their mother had died three years prior. Within a year she had her first son, followed by four more sons and one daughter. We always knew that our home was open to any of our friends who share fond memories of times at the Estes house.

Lorene was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Natchez for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, of almost 69 years, Thomas Glenvall Estes Sr.; son, Charles Eugene; granddaughter, Hailey Elizabeth Estes; and sister Marilyn Bond.

She is survived by her four sons, Tom and wife, Fran, of Hattiesburg, Don and wife, Cathy, of Natchez, Billy and wife, Phillys, of Meridian and Terry and wife, Paula, of Natchez; one daughter, Jeanne and Sue of San Jose; sisters, Faye Spiers of Slidell, Maxine Wolfe of Memphis, and Nora Rawls of Columbia; brothers-in-law, Billy Estes and wife, Cherry, of Mt. Herman and Howard Estes and wife, Claire, of Fayette; sisters-in-law, Kathy Nunnery and husband, Joe, of Vidalia, Debbie Smith and husband, Billy and Velma Estes of Natchez; beloved grandchildren, Carol Ann Bustin and husband, Bill, Michael Estes and wife, Kristi, Robert Estes and wife, Tara, Stephanie Forbes and husband, George, David Estes and wife, Kim, Lillian Reed and husband, Scott, Kelly Butler and husband, Eddie, Jennifer Nix and husband, Jody, Shane Johnson and wife, Tabatha, Lana Clarke and husband, Geoghegan and Brett Estes, and wife Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Emily, Abby, Will, Bustin, Taryn, Aidan, Chris, Jacob, Audrey, Harvey, Jamie, Olivia, Katherine and Wes Estes, Tyler and Allison Forbes, Paul, Ben and Sam Reed, Dylan and Matthew Butler, Ryan, Delaney and Cameron Nix, Colby Johnson, Emerson and Eli Clarke; great-great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Butler and many special nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Estes, Robert Estes, Michael Estes, Brett Estes, Shane Johnson and Scott Arinder.

The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Tillman, the staff at the Magnolia House, Meadville Convalescent Home and Dr. Kimberly Estes. Donations may be made to the Natchez City Cemetery, First Baptist Church of Natchez, or the charity of your choice.
