NATCHEZ — Memorial services for William Edward O’Malley Sr., 85, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, in Natchez, will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will be at a later date.
Saturday’s service will be a joint visitation for Mr. O’Malley and his wife, June Cotten O’Malley, who preceded him in death on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2008.
O’Malley was born on April 4, 1928, in Brookline, Mass., the son of Albert Francis and Mary Elizabeth O’Malley.
O’Malley was a graduate of Natchez High School where he was a member of the football team. He served in the armed forces during the Korean War and returned to Natchez where he became very active in the local oil and gas industry, beginning with O’Malley Labs, core analysis, and later as an independent oil and gas producer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Leal Kelley; wife, June Cotten O’Malley; three brothers, Al O’Malley, John O’Malley and Paul O’Malley.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelly O’Malley Bradley and husband, Tim, of Natchez; one son, William E. O’Malley and wife, Brenda, of Natchez; three grandchildren, Anna Kristin Crook of Baton Rouge, Richard Allen Crook Jr. and wife, Christia, of Chicago and Marron Hope O’Malley Smith and husband, Nathan, of Brandon; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Crook and Lucas Esthay both of Baton Rouge.
The family would like to thank the staff of Adams County Nursing Center and Hospice Compassus for their kindness and devoted care of Mr. O’Malley.
