12:06 Agnes Guyton obitpicNEW ORLEANS — Funeral services Agnes Brown Guyton, 96, of New Orleans, who died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at her resisdence, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Union Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Thomas Benjamin Brown Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausolem under the direction of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home. A Jazz processional will proceed the burial.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Guyton was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Natchez, the daughter of Reuben and Lucy Claiborne Brown.

Guyton grew up in Natchez and moved to New Orleans at the age of 28. She married Linzy Ford Guyton Jr.

She was a member of Union Bethel A.M.E. Church for over 60 years and retired from Orleans Manufacturing Company as a casket designer. She had a passion for fishing with her husband and she loved sports. She was a phenomenal groundbreaker over the years dedicated to the Lord, family, extended family and communities.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include two sons, Wesley Johnson Jr. and wife, Tanya and Edward Green; eight grandchildren, including two that were her godchildren Edwina Green Black and Dr. Pat Green Bass and husband, Charles, Dr. Jessica and D’Laika Johnson, Dylan Wren, Kerri, Adrian and Edward Green Jr.; 8 great-grand children, Agatha Patrice Hubbard, Kortlynn Johnson, Jeniece Carter, Stephenie, Jamie and Stephen Black Jr. and Brija and Brooklyn Johnson; one cousin, Leroy Lloyd, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
