VIDALIA — Funeral services for Velma Simpson, 60, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Vidalia, with the Rev. Julius McCray officiating.
Burial will follow in Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Simpson was born Nov. 16, 1953, in Natchez, the daughter of Johnny and Willie Mae Fortune Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elvonne Fakes; two brothers, Larry Fortune and Johnny Simpson Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Thelma Ruth Simpson, of Vidalia; her twin sister, Thelma R. Simpson, of Vidalia; two other sisters, Willie Lee Spurs and Curtis Lee Johnson, of Lowell, Mass.; sister-in-law, Geraldine Fortune; two brothers, Charles Fortune, and Robert Fortune and wife, Velma, of Ferriday; one grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
