ATLANTA— Memorial services for G. L. “June Bug” Grimes Jr., 58, of Atlanta, formerly of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his residence, were held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Donald Trimble Mortuary of Decatur, Ga. with the Rev. Thomas C. Hall officiating.
Services were under the direction of Donald Trimble Mortuary.
Grimes was born on Oct. 28, 1955, in Natchez, the son of G.L. Grimes Sr. and Ammie Wilson Grimes.
He served in the United States Army earning several awards and commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and his Sharpshooter Qualification Badge. He received an honorable discharge.
Grimes was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Michael Christmas.
Survivors include daughter, Cynnethia Grimes, of Locust Grove, Ga. ; grandson, Marcus Owens, of Locust Grove, Ga.; four sisters, Lueberta Christmas, of Natchez, Carolyn Pennington and husband, Cassie, of Indianola, Mary Lee Lightfoot and husband, Bernard, of Missouri City, Texas, and Dianne Palmer and husband, David, of Marietta, Ga.; brother, Gary Lee Grimes and wife, Jean, of Lithonia, Ga.; four nieces; eight nephews; and a number of extended family, friends and loved ones.
