TALLULAH, La. — Isiah Thompson led Vidalia with 15 points and Julius Wilson IV scored 13 points as the Vikings rallied to defeat the General Trass Panthers 59-54 Saturday night at the Madison Parish Tournament.
After being held to just seven points in the third quarter, Vidalia found itself trailing General Trass 41-38. However, the Vikings more than made up for that dismal third quarter by outscoring the Panthers 21-13 in the fourth quarter.
The Vikings also used a 21-point second quarter to turn a 14-10 deficit after one quarter of play into a 31-27 halftime lead.
J.T. Townsend added 11 points and Curtis McNulty chipped in with eight points for Vidalia. The win was a much-needed one for the Vikings, who lost their first two games of this tournament.
Kentrell Scott led General Trass with a game-high 19 points and Kelton Campbell had 14 points.
Vidalia (7-5) takes on Tensas High at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Sicily Island Tournament.

JENA, La. — The Block Lady Bears got off to a rough start and were not able to mount a comeback as they lost to the Grant High School Lady Cougars 62-46 Saturday morning at the Jena Holiday Classic.
Whether it was having to play a game that started at 9 a.m. or taking on a good Class 4A team in Grant, Block could not have played any worse than it did in the first quarter. Once that quarter was finally over, the Lady Bears trailed the Lady Cougars 20-5.
The Lady Cougars didn’t let up too much on Block in the second quarter even though the Lady Bears did do better offensively en route to a 39-19 halftime lead. Block tried to make a game of it after outscoring Grant 15-10 in the third quarter, but it was not nearly enough.
Quinesha Branch led Block with 12 points and Tinesha Branch chipped in with nine points. The Lady Bears went 0-2 in tournament play.
