He spent most of his successful sales career in Vidalia, first with National Supply Company and then as a sales consultant for Paul Revere/Unum Life Insurance and AFLAC from which he retired. Formerly, he served as an alderman for the City of Vidalia and was president of the Chamber of Commerce, and was always active in civic affairs.

Prior to his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed many years of travel in their motorhomes and cruising. Since moving to Tyler six years ago, he and his wife of 59 years, Nelwyn Spivey Lowe, have been members of Green Acres Baptist Church and John Childs’ “Friendship” class.

He enjoyed going to Forerunners each month and looked forward to the music provided by the Celebration Choir and Brother David’s message each Sunday.

Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Louise L. Kaiser.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Michael G. Lowe of Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Scarlett L. Hughes and husband, Dr. Nathan Hughes, of Tyler; two granddaughters, Caroline H. Hulse and husband, David, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Joanna Hughes at Baylor University of Waco, Texas; and one brother, A.J. Lowe of Brookhaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. This was his favorite charity.
