NATCHEZ— Services for James B. “J.B.” Jackson Jr., 86, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Adams County Nursing Home, will be 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Howard officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Jackson was born June 3, 1927, in Amite County, the son of James Bryan Jackson Sr. and Nina Rollins Jackson.
He was a veteran of World War II. He retired after 33 years of service from the Natchez Fire Department. He also worked a number of years for Sears. He loved to hunt, fish and garden.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, T. R. Jackson; and three sisters, Rae Netherland, Faye Whittington, and Jackie Bryant and husband, Willie.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ena M. Jackson; one son, Rusty Jackson and wife, Debra of Natchez; three brothers, E. M. Jackson and wife, Jeri, Hansel Jackson and wife, Edith, Clark Jackson Sr. and wife, Marilyn, all of Natchez; three step-grandchildren, Meghan Norris of Nashville, Tenn., Amy Sutton of Hattiesburg, and Lee Ann Gardner of Natchez; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Al Waddell, Phil Lindley, Kenny Jackson, Dole Jackson, Rusty Anders and Clark Jackson.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or a charity of your choice.
