FERRIDAY — Services for Vernon Ray Platt, 53, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Doty Road Church of God on Third Street.

Burial will follow in Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Platt was born Sept. 3, 1960, in Ferriday, the son of Roosevelt Platt Jr. and Georgia Smith Platt.

He was a truck driver.

Mr. Platt was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Patricia Platt Thomas.

Survivors include his mother; two sons, Kendrick Brown and Dewayne Cain, both of Ferriday; one daughter, JaLisa Lee of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Ronald Platt and wife, Cynthia, Roosevelt Platt Jr. and Joseph Platt, all of Ferriday; step grandmother, Leola Smith of New Orleans; two grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives.
