NATCHEZ — John M. “Mickey” McGivaren, 72, who died on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Natchez Community Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. As per Mr. McGivaren’s request, there will be no services.

Mr. McGivaren was born Mar. 13, 1941, in Natchez, the son of John Michael McGivaren and Pearl Gieger McGivaren.

He was a 1959 graduate of Natchez High School. He was a lieutenant commander United States Navy pilot. After his Navel service, he was a commercial airline pilot for Delta Airlines and World Airways. He later was a lobsterman in Freeport, Maine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, blues music and jazz music.

Survivors include three sons, Michael McGivaren of New York City, Mark McGivaren of Spartanburg, S.C., and their mother, Sharon Lane, of Milton, Fla., and Booth McGivaren, of Auburn, Maine, and his mother, Barbara McGivaren, of Portland, Maine; two grandchildren; and two brothers, R. Patrick McGivaren, of Rome, Ga., and Timothy McGivaren of Natchez.
