VIDALIA — Services for Alma Jean Johnson, 65, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez with the Rev. Clifton Marvel officiating.
Burial will follow in the Vidalia City Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home.
Ms. Johnson was born March 11, 1948, in Knox, the daughter of Horace Johnson Jr. and Willie Mae McCullough-Johnson.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. T.J. Howard at St. Stephen Baptist Church.
She was educated in the Concordia Parish School System. She continued her education at the Delta Career Community College where she became a certified nursing assistant and Louisiana Technical Colleges, Shelby Jackson Campus where she pursued certification in air conditioning and refrigeration. Prior to becoming self employed, she worked as a private sitter.
Her favorite past-time was fishing.
Ms. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Larry Johnson Sr. and Leonard Ray Johnson; her companion, Ivory “Bear” Brown; both paternal and maternal grandparents; and a number of aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Survivors include three sisters, Dr. Brenda Johnson Moore and husband, Eric, Audrey Johnson Gray, of Vidalia, and Majorie Washington and husband, Mack, of Roxie; two brothers, Wayne Gene Johnson and wife, Joyce, of Houston, and Otho Charles Johnson, of Baton Rouge; one sister-in-law, Patricia Johnson, of Brusly; seven nieces, Brenda “Vickie” Jean Johnson, of Gonzales, Audrey “Niecy” Johnson Wardley and husband, Rodney, of Roxie, Martha Faye Wilbert and husband, Delvin, of Spring, Texas, Bridgette “Boom” Cameron, of Centreville, Cheryl Gray Williams and husband, Herbert Charles, of Colorado Springs, Yolanda Gray Williams and husband, Jeffery, and Jocola Williams, both of Vidalia, and Linda Crossley, of Atlanta; five nephews, Leonard Wayne Johnson and wife, Dora, of Natchez, Travis Brinson, of Lebanon, Tenn., Joe Williams Jr., of Baton Rouge, Larry Johnson Jr., and Wyketrick Johnson, of Brusly, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Fritz Beard, Travis Brinson, Milton Jackson, Steven Jackson, Damien Johnson, Larry Johnson Jr., Gabriel Williams and Joe Williams Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be brothers, nephews, and brother-in-laws.
