FERRIDAY — One of the four suspects arrested in May for an alleged armed robbery and attempted murder of a Ferriday business owner was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison.
Illyasha L. Hawkins, 27, 716 Maryland Ave., was sentenced to serve five years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections for simple robbery.
Hawkins’ sentence will be reduced according to the amount of time she’s served since she was arrested in May after the incident.
Hawkins was one of four suspects Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators believed were involved in the armed robbery and attempted murder of a Ferriday business owner on Louisiana 15.
Hawkins and another female suspect, Shonbrica A. Green, received lesser charges because they were not in the room when the crime occurred.
Defonte R. Leonard and Jessie Green were charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery.
The other three suspects were on the court docket Wednesday but were not booked into the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office jail at the courthouse.
