FERRIDAY — Services for Phillip Wayne Townsend, 57, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, in Newington, Ga., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Mayes officiating.

Burial will follow in Ferriday City Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Townsend was born Oct. 20, 1956, the son of Allen Paige and Alma Jones.

He graduated Tulane University in 1980. He was an educator.

He was also a member of ARC and Cancer Society.

Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, the Rev. Jake Jones Sr. and Renell Smith Jones.

Survivors include his children, Charlene L.S. Townsend, D’Coven England, Mahogany England and Alma Townsend.
