MEADVILLE — Services for Ruthie M. Havard Shiers, 77, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Crown Health and Rehab in Natchez, will be at 10 a.m. today at Franklin Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shiers was born Jan. 22, 1937, in Franklin County, the daughter of William Wallace and Eva Graves Havard.
She was a member of Washington Baptist Church in Natchez. She worked for many years as a self-employed housecleaning service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Shiers was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rochester “Chester” Shiers; two brothers, Jimmy Havard and Wayne Havard; and one son-in-law, Donald Clyde Smith.
Survivors include her son, Billy Wilson and wife, Janice, of Meadville; one daughter, Brenda Smith, of Brookhaven; one stepson, Chet Shiers and wife, Donna, of McComb; two stepdaughters, Cheri Shiers and Cindy Shiers, both of Byram; two brothers, Willie Havard and wife, Jo, of Roxie and Hilton Havard and wife, Dee, of Summit; two sisters, Barbara Corkern and Betty Smith, both of Wesson; one step-brother, Hershel Humes of Kingston; four grandchildren, Marty Jackson and wife, Angie, Lindsey Jackson and wife, Leila, Lacey Smith and husband, Ryan and Emily Leonard; six step-grandchildren, Todd Thompson, Justin Thompson and wife, Leslie, Joel Shiers, Amber Shiers, Christin Phillips and Melissa Phillips; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces and friends.
