Vidalia boys blow out Tigers, girls lose

MARKSVILLE, La. — The Vidalia High School Vikings rolled past Marksville High School in a 63-36 road victory Monday.
The Vikings (18-9, 7-1) used even scoring and solid defense, as four players scored in double digits with Demarco Brown leading the pack with 17 points. Isiah Thompson scored 12 points, while Deion Brown and Curtis McNulty Jr. added 10 points each.
Marksville was able to keep up with Vidalia in the first quarter, as it scored 10 points to the Vikings’ 16.
But Vidalia found distance in the second quarter as it only allowed the Tigers two points while dropping 11 points for a 27-12 lead at halftime.
Vidalia backed off a little in the third quarter as it allowed Marksville to have its largest scoring quarter with 15 points, though the Vikings still managed to outscore the Tigers with 18 points.
The Vikings sealed the deal in the fourth quarter as they went on a 19-9 run to end the game 63-36.
Vidalia plays Buckeye High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Lady Vikings ended their season with a 76-55 loss to Marksville Monday.
Vidalia (1-10) was consistent in its scoring efforts through each quarter, but was no match for the Lady Tigers’ high-octane offense.
Shermel Bell led the Lady Vikings with 13 points, as Tierra Bell added 11 points in the loss. Katrianna Jacobs scored 19 points for the Lady Tigers, while Hazel Young added 15 points.
Vidalia stayed close in the first quarter, trailing just 14-12, but the Lady Tigers blew the lead open with a 21-12 second quarter and a 19-13 third quarter.
Down 54-37, Vidalia came up with 18 points in the final quarter, but it was too late to make a come back as Vidalia lost in its last game of the season.
