GLOSTER — Services for Barbara Lee King, 86, of Gloster, who died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Reggie Forman officiating.
Burial will follow in Roseland Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. King was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Amite County, the daughter of Claude and Dorothy Mae Whittington.
She was a native and longtime resident of Gloster. She was a store clerk with Bill’s Dollar Store and later with Penny-Pinchers, both in Gloster.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Russell King; one daughter, Carolyn Estelle King; and one sister, Mamie “Dixie” Whittington Hargon.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Bennett and husband, Wayne, and Myra Davis and husband, Greg Fondren; three grandsons, Larry Norman and wife, Susan, Chet Shermer and wife, Julie, and Aaron Shermer and wife, Lesley; six great-grandchildren, Ashley Harlan, Jamen Smiley, Joshua Norman, Alex Shermer, Callie Shermer and Emma Shermer; two sisters, Claudia Whittington Jackson and Hattie Bell “Boots” Whittington Woodard; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Greg Fondren, Terry Short, Larry Norman, Chet Shermer, Aaron Shermer and Alex Shermer.
