BRITTNEY LOHMILLER / THE NATCHEZ DEMOCRAT — Freezing rain coated trees, cars and power lines in the Miss-Lou causing approximately 3,000 residents in Natchez and Adams County to be without power and local schools to close. Power lines heavy with freezing rain fell down on Wisteria Lane Wednesday.

NATCHEZ — Most Miss-Lou residents should have power by the end of the day Thursday, power company officials said.

The outages were caused by tree limbs breaking following Tuesday night’s ice event, though some were the result of power companies taking some grids offline in order to make repairs, Adams County Emergency Management Director Stan Owens said.

Entergy Mississippi Spokesman Tim Runnels said Wednesday evening electrical service had been restored to 1,350 Entergy customers in the Adams County area, while 1,650 remained without power.
