MEADVILLE — Services for James Lee Havard Sr., 79, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Funeral Home with the Rev. Bernard Waites officiating.
Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Havard was born July 20, 1934, in Centreville, the son of Luther L. and Ruby Parker Havard.
He was a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church.
He worked for many years in the timber industry as a logger. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Havard was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James L. Havard Jr., one daughter, Debra Havard Hart; and one grandson, Derrick Havard.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Helen Ezell Havard; two sons, Terry Havard and wife, Angie, of McCall Creek, and Randy Havard, of Centreville; one daughter, Shirley Havard Valentine, of Natchez; three stepsons, Dewayne, Gary and Greg Bass, all of Brookhaven; two brothers, Sammy Havard, and William “Billy” Havard and wife, Ruby, all of Natchez; two sisters, Margaret Durham, of Zachary, La. and Patricia Evans and husband Bub, of Woodville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces and friends.
