COLUMBIA — Services for Virgil “Odell” Powell, 72, of Port Allen, formerly of Columbia and Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Powell was the son of Berley and Letha Bedwell Powell.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired owner and operater of Powell Chevron, where he was a mechanic for over 17 years in Natchez.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by her parents; wife, Agnes Powell; one step-son, Kenneth Hamilton; one step-daughter, Diane Morrison; and one daughter-in-law, Cathy Powell.
Survivors include his wife, Lottie Lowery Powell; one son, Ricky Powell; two daughters, Lisa Powell and Tammy Sanders and husband, Mike; one step-daughter, Rebecca Hamilton Simoneaux and husband, Darin; one brother, Frank Powell; one sister, Ethel Jones; two step-grandchildren, Melinda Lough, Leric and Legind Lough; and a number of nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
