FERRIDAY — Services for Laura S. Bowman, 73, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Riverland Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rufus Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Reed officiating.

Burial will follow in Clayton Garden of Rest Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bowman was born July 10, 1940, in Foules, the daughter of James Sanders and Ollie Mae McGee.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Bowman; one son, Session Bosley Jr.; one daughter, Doris Lewis; and two brothers, Gus McGee and Joseph Brown.

Survivors include four sons, Louis Bowman Jr., Robert Bowman, Tyrone Bowman and Lavon Bowman, all of Ferriday; six daughters, Ollie Hampton and husband, Sam, Shirley Coleman and husband, Eddie, Rose Taylor and husband, Bobby, Sharika Watson and husband, Sugar Ray, and Sharon Bowman, all of Ferriday; one step-son, Herbert Washington and wife, Karen, of Ferriday; three step-daughters, Deloris Washington of New Orleans, Jennifer Meredith and Sandra Cauley, both of Ferriday; three brothers, Roosevelt Murray of Ferriday, Johnny Washington and wife, Elaine, of Baton Rouge, and Willie McGee and wife, Debra, of Vidalia; three sisters, Theresa Washington and husband, Luther, of Atlanta, Mary Moore of Kansas City and Lula Washington of Jonesville; 34 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one aunt, Jessie Taylor of Monticello; and a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives.
