NEW ERA — Funeral services for Gerald K. Byron Delhoste, 78, of Acme, who died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 in Acme, will be 10 a.m. Monday at New Era Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Baker, the Rev. Lloyd Trisler and the Rev. Huey Tarpley officiating.

Burial will follow at the Acme Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at New Era Baptist Church.

Gerald was born Feb. 18, 1936, in Acme, the son of Joseph Byron Delhoste and Floy Lipsey Delhoste. He was a resident of Acme and a member of New Era Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Millard Flaherty and his mother-in-law, Maudel Flaherty.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Maxine Delhoste; one son, Cam Delhoste and wife, Lindy, of Point Pleasant, W.V.; one daughter, Sheryl Delhoste Price and husband, Jeff, of Deville; five grandchildren, LaShay Cole, Matthew Price, Joseph Delhoste, Michael Price and Sean Cole; four great-grandchildren, Cami Cole, Mason Price, Carson Cole and Clare Cole; and a sister, Rachel Greer of Ferriday.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Price, Michael Price, Joseph Delhoste, Brad Cole, Sean Cole, David Sikes, B.J. Carlin and Joe Wiley.

Honorary pallbearers will be LaShay Cole, Cynthia Carter, Cami Cole, Mason Price, Carson Cole, Claire Cole and the deacons of New Era Baptist Church.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to the Rev. Dennis Baker, Debbie Flaherty, Judy Smith and Camellia Hospice Care employees; to family and friends of their Acme community; the New Era Baptist Church family; and two very special aunts, Melba Thompson and Maxine Strebeck.

We appreciate your love, support, cards, food, visits, calls and most of all, your prayers. We love you all.
