Yale Whiffenpoofs coming to Natchez

Natchez Little Theatre is thrilled to bring back to Natchez after a four-year absence, the world-famous men’s a cappella singing group The Whiffenpoofs from Yale University.

For five years, the nation’s oldest men’s singing group started their annual world tour in Natchez from 2007–2011.

The Whiffenpoofs are celebrating 105 years of singing, and this year the group includes Mississippi native Connor Buechler of Ridgeland. The Whiffenpoofs consist of 14 male students from prestigious Yale University who take a year off from their studies to travel around the world performing.

The group became world renowned in its early days with one of its earlier members, the world famous composter, Cole Porter, who upon graduation went on to write many award-winning musicals such as “Anything Goes” and “Kiss Me, Kate.”

The concert will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Natchez Little Theatre, and there will be a brief reception following the concert for the audience to meet these incredibly talented and intelligent young gentlemen.

Tickets for the concert are $20 each and should be reserved in advance by contacting Natchez Little Theatre at 601-442-2233 or guarantee your tickets online at natcheztheatre.org

As Natchez Little Theatre is a charitable non-profit organization, it would not be possible to bring this caliber of world-class musical entertainment to such a small venue as Natchez without support from the community.

I would like to thank the Natchez Grand Hotel, Adrian Bernotti, Ralph Vicero, Dr. Lee Turk, Rising Sun Bed & Breakfast, Mike & Elaine Gemmell and Lee Dellinger, as well as the many other citizens of Natchez who made donations to help cover the costs of bringing The Whffenpoofs back to Natchez and allowing us to make the tickets affordable.

If you love beautiful music, sung by beautiful voice and by handsome gentlemen, don’t miss this one-time concert. The Whiffenpoofs will serenade the audience with classics by Cole Porter and their signature “Whiffenpoof Song.”

Not only are these guys incredible singers, but they are hilarious comedians as well.

So, make your plans now to attend the Yale Whiffenpoofs concert at Natchez Little Theatre. You’ll be glad you did!
