OPELOUSAS, La. — Services for Linda Porter Whittington, 65, of Opelousas, who died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System, will be at 1 p.m. today at Melancon Funeral Home in Opelousas with the Rev. Lee Ray Darbonne, pastor of First Baptist Church in Sunset, officiating.
Visitation will be from 11a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Whittington was a native of Natchez and a resident of Opelousas, having lived in New Iberia for more than 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Otis Porter and Ann Jones Porter; her
husband, Fred; two brothers, David A. Porter and Carl Otis “Coot”Porter Jr; and one sister, Carol P. Verucch..
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Len Whittington of Opelousas; two daughters, Melissa Zaunbrecher and her husband, Michael, of Sunset and Misti Whittington of New Iberia; one brother, Danny Porter and his wife, Helen, of Decaturville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Kori Thomas and Christopher Whittington; one sister, Mary Ann Hutcherson and her husband, William “Billy,” of Brookhaven; a special niece, Tanya Verucchi, of Brookhaven, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
