BROOKHAVEN — Services for Stanley Ford Matthews, 55, of Brookhaven, who died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 1 p.m. today at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Liberty with the Rev. Londia Weatherspoon officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Matthews was born Feb. 1, 1959, in Amite County, the son of Vernon and Hattie Mae Chapman Matthews.
He was a member of the Special Olympics.
Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary B. Brown.
Survivors include six brothers, Edwin Matthews, Alphonse Matthews, both of Gloster, Samuel Matthews, Melvin Matthews, James Matthews, all of Chicago, and Vernon Matthews Jr. of Gonzales, La.; four sisters, Emma L. Dunn of Mobile, Ala., Ruthie M. Burgess of Chicago, Minester Veals and Wilma D. Williams, both of Gloster; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
