FERRIDAY — Services for Michael Jefferson Maier, 80, of Monterey, who died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Riverland Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. C.D. Beard and the Rev. Dillon Wickliffe officiating.
Burial will follow in Oswalt Cemetery in Lismore, La. under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Maier was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Lismore, the son of William Henry Maier and Margaret Dunn Maier.
He was a resident of Monterey, a member of Lismore Baptist Church and a truck driver for many years.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Maier was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jimmy Maier.
Survivors include his two sons, Mickey Maier and wife, Jolene, of Magnolia, and Paul Edward Maier of McComb; one daughter, Viola McCullough and husband, Jim, of McComb; 41 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arthur Maier of Monterey.
Pallbearers will be Jimmie Maier, Jr., L.V. Bolyer, Frank Peebles, Herman Wiley, Charlie Harris and Lane Bronco.
