Today’s Tableaux offers great view

Have you lived in Natchez your entire life and never seen the Historic Natchez Tableaux, formerly known as the Historic Natchez Pageant? Have you seen it many times, but love to see it every year?
Either way, the Natchez Garden Club and Pilgrimage Garden Club are inviting local residents to see the Historic Natchez Tableaux for free at 8 p.m. tonight at the city auditorium.
In order to obtain your free ticket, all you have to do is show up at the auditorium and present your driver’s license, showing that you are a local resident.
The city auditorium is located at the corner of Canal Street and Jefferson Street in downtown Natchez.
This musical production, depicting scenes of the Old South, transports its audience to the days of long ago.
With its king, queen, court, tableaux groups, dancers and singers, the tableaux seeks to briefly turn back the clock to the courtly days and charm of Natchez’s gracious past.
It fosters an appreciation for what was truly best in that great heritage. It shows a respect for the strength of the family and the value of a genteel existence with its emphasis on cordiality, chivalry, culture and honor.
This year’s tableaux will be every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the city auditorium between today and April 5.
With the exception of today, which is free to local residents, tickets will be $15 for adults and $7 for children.
We would love for you to come see the Tableaux this year and support the more than 200 volunteers who have graciously given of their time to see that this tradition continues for Natchez and our community.
You will be in for a delightful evening of informative entertainment.
