WAVELAND — Funeral services for Ann Hampton Coleman, 67, of Waveland, who died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at her residence, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at at Christian Life Church in Waveland.
A dinner reception will immediately follow.
Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. at Christian Life Church until time of services.
Ann was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Natchez, the daughter of the Judge Walter “Bumps” Coleman and Annie “Fronnie” Jenkins Coleman.
She lived and worked in Washington D.C., Natchez, Long Beach and Jackson until she made the Mississippi Gulf Coast her home in 2001. When Ann lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, she discovered a volunteer camp on Waveland Avenue. She fell in love with the people there and dedicated her life to volunteer work.
When not volunteering at The Waveland Thrift Store (born of that little camp of volunteers), she could be found at New Christian Life Church (also born from the same volunteer camp, and now a thriving hub of loving Christian outreach). There is no telling how many lives she has touched and spirits she helped to heal there, for Ann never met a stranger she didn’t love, and had an amazing lifetime of experiences and hope to share.
A talented artist and lover of the written word, she never experienced a dull moment. Her other passion was cheering on her two grandchildren and sharing with them her love of all things Sci-Fi, the Weather Channel and her love and knowledge of the outdoors, having been an avid hunter and fisherman throughout her life.
She was preceeded in death by parents and her former husband, Charles Schleet of Natchez.
Survivors include two children, Kelly Corbin of Diamondhead and Selah Saterstrom of Denver; two grandchildren, Cassidy Coleman Holland and Riley Ann Corbin; three sisters, Helen Green of Jackson, Katherine Babin of New Orleans, and Penny Murphy of Baton Rouge, and a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Life Church.
