CLEVELAND — Ricky Winters tossed a complete game shutout Sunday as Delta State Baseball completed a three-game Gulf South Conference sweep over Christian Brothers, 10-0.
The game was called via run rule after eight innings of competition.
Winters (4-0) scattered five hits over eight innings to pick up his fourth win of the season. He struck out six Bucs and had just one walk. Winters was able to work efficiently by retiring the side in order in four innings.
Delta State (10-5, 9-3 GSC) did all the scoring in two innings, with a four-run third inning and a six-run eighth inning.
Delta State Baseball returns to the field on Tuesday at Ferriss Field to host Southern Arkansas for a 6 p.m. first pitch. GoStatesmen.com will have links to live stats and audio for the game. DSU will return to GSC action this upcoming weekend with a road trip to Jackson, Tenn., to visit Union for a weekend three game series.
