Ferriday — The Concordia Parish Chamber of Commerce is hoping to draw a larger crowd for its annual golf scramble with the added rev of an engine on April 17.
Board member Josh Wilson said 54 players can sign up to play in the three-man scramble at Panola Woods Country Club for the price of $240 a team, and if anyone hits a hole in one in this year’s event, the golfer will be sporting a new ride.
“We’re trying to do some extra things,” Wilson said. “We’ve got some bigger sponsors this year. Performance Dodge is going to have a car present and whoever hits a hole in one is going to win it.”
Wilson said this is the first year the chamber has had a car as a prize, and he said the Chamber is making sure it has nice door prizes for the event.
Executive Director Jamie Wiley said a fish fry will begin at 11:30 a.m. and a shotgun tee-off will start at 1 p.m.
Both Wiley and Wilson said the timing of giving away door prizes, hosting a fish fry and playing in a golf tournament for a leisure Saturday was adjusted so businesses can relax after tax season.
“We enjoy having it a day after the high stress factor is over with,” Wiley said. “This event helps bring the community together.”
Each team that signs up will play nine holes. Individuals wanting to sponsor a hole can pay $75.
Anyone interested in signing up should call 318-336-8223 for more information.
