GLOSTER — Services for Myra King Shermer Davis, 66, of Gloster, who died Monday, March 10, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Forman officiating.
Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Clinton under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Davis was born Oct. 23, 1947, in Centreville, the daughter of Larry Russell King and Barbara Whittington King.
She graduated from Vidalia High School and completed training in cosmetology.
She enjoyed a long career as a beautician but also stood by her parents in all of the businesses as well.
She was a member of Union Methodist Church in Gloster.
She loved all of her grandchildren and daughters-in-laws very much. She was able to attend all of their important life events, even after cancer weakened her over the last few years. Myra had a number of wonderful cousins (who were her best friends), nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Her family was her whole life and she enjoyed them so much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Larry Davis.
Survivors include her husband, Greg Fondren; two sons, Dr. Chet Shermer and wife, Julie, and Aaron Shermer and wife, Lesley, of Natchez; one stepson, Ivan Nastally, of Louisiana; two stepdaughters, Brittany Fondren and Katie Fondren, both of Brandon; two grandsons, Devin Evans and Alex Shermer; four granddaughters, Ashley Harlan, Callie Shermer and Emma Shermer; and a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
