NATCHEZ — Services for Frances Maella Irby Cameron, 88, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McNeely Road Church of God with the Rev. Brian Monehan and the Rev. Julius Roberts officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Mrs. Cameron was born April 15, 1925, in Carlise, the daughter of William Frank Irby and Madie Lou Irby.

Mrs. Cameron loved life. She had a big heart and never met a stranger. She would give anybody anything she had and would buy things and give them away just to see others happy.

Her favorite past time was fishing, and she had a lot of stories to tell.

She worked in the kitchen at Jeff Davis Hospital for 25 years serving others.

She was a member of the McNeely Road Church of God.

Mrs. Cameron was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Cameron; her parents; one brother, Willie Frank Irby; one sister, Helen Lofton; and a step daughter, Clorett Greer.

Survivors include her sister, Lucille Irby McManus, of Hixon, Tenn.; one nephew, Keith McManus, of Dallas; three nieces, Ellen Sanders, of Hixon, Tenn., Bobbie Lofton Merrit, and Betty Gail Lofton Freeman; one step son, Carmon Cameron and wife, Pat, of Ferriday; one step grandson, Craig Cameron; one step great-granddaughter, Katlyn Cameron; and cousin and caregiver, Nancy Mercer, of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Ellis Felter, Ken Hampton, Curtis Freeman, Roger McCranie, Rajesh Behara and Frank Dungan.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Adams County Nursing Center for their attentive care.
