Althea Helen Stietenroth Gay

NATCHEZ — Services for Althea Helen Stietenroth Gay, 63, of Natchez, who died Saturday, March 15, 2014, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Broome officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Gay was born nAug. 19, 1950, in Natchez, the daughter of Charles Sterling Stietenroth and Helen Gandy Stietenroth.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired schoolteacher. She also managed the family business, Allstar Recovery.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Clayton Gay; two sons, Sterling Proteus Gay and wife, Shay Netterville Gay, and Clayton Shannon Gay and wife, Anna Kelley Gay, all of Natchez; three grandchildren, Grayson Douglas Gay, Sterling Garner Gay and Ava Kate Walker; and first cousin Bill Stietenroth and wife, Ann, of Gulfport.

Mrs. Gay’s loving nature and kind words have left a lasting impression on our community and with her family and friends.

The family would like to extend thanks to friends, family members and the church for their love and support throughout this time. Additional thanks are expressed to Deaconess Hospice, especially nurse Ashley Wilson and aide Shelia Evans, as well as Mrs. Gay’s personal caretakers, Carrie Minor and Gilda Meyer, for their outstanding care, love and compassion shown to her in the last weeks of her life.

Memorials may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church and the American Cancer Society.
