NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested late Friday night for allegedly orchestrating the robbery and assault of another man.
Anthony Thompson, 31, 12 Fifth St., was arrested by the Natchez Police Department on charges of armed robbery.
The victim told police he caught a ride with Thompson as he was leaving a local casino to get more money, NPD Detective Jerry Ford said.
After the victim retrieved more money from his residence, rather than taking the victim back to the casino, Thompson allegedly took him to a different location, where a man with a gun was waiting, Ford said.
The man with the gun reportedly struck the victim on the head with the gun and took the money from his pocket, Ford said.
After the assault and robbery, the victim made a statement to the police and identified Thompson as one of the perpetrators, Ford said, but the identity of the second man was unknown Saturday.
The amount of money taken was also unknown, Ford said.
Thompson was detained without bond.
Police are investigating the matter, and anyone with information about the robbery can leave a tip with crime stoppers at 601-442-5000.
