VICKSBURG — Cathedral High School’s varsity baseball team saw its eight-game winning streak end as the Green Wave lost a pair of games played at Warren Central High School Saturday afternoon.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Vicksburg Gators held on for a 7-6 win over Cathedral. The second game was not nearly as close or dramatic as the Lawrence County High School Cougars took care of the Green Wave 15-5.

Cathedral (9-3) returns to MHSAA Region 7-1A play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bogue Chitto.

Vidalia Softball Classic cancelled

VIDALIA — Friday night’s severe thunderstorms did some damage to the fields and fences at the Concordia Recreation District 3 Complex, forcing all eight games of the 2014 Vidalia Vikings Softball Classic that were scheduled for Saturday to be canceled. And that was after Friday afternoon’s tripleheader of games was rained out.

Because of the storm damage, Monday afternoon’s junior varsity and varsity home games between the Vidalia Lady Vikings and the Marksville Lady Tigers in LHSAA District 3-3A play are still up in the air.
