MONTICELLO — Services for Doyle Edwin Thames, 83, of Monticello, who died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Lawrence County Nursing Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Hemby officiating.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Thames was born Jan. 10, 1931, the son of Ben and Delois Martin Thames.
Although we will miss him dearly, we, the family, are so grateful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving him eternal rest.
We know that those who passed on before him are welcoming him in his new heavenly home.
He graduated from East Lincoln School.
He was a 32 degree Mason, member of Topisaw Lodge No. 326 and the order of the Eastern Star at Topisaw.
He retired from International Paper Co. in Natchez and Atlanta, Texas. He also worked as a security guard at St. Regis Paper Mill in Lawrence County for 12 years.
Mr. Thames was preceded in death by his parents; and two wives, Ruthie Hewitt Thames and Patricia Baldwin Thames.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Thames of Pace, Fla., Ron Thames of Ruth, Joseph Ben Thames of Brookhaven and John Adams of McComb; three daughters, Dana Toney of Natchez, Peggy Tucker of Waterproof, La. and Jenny Ruth Thames of Ruth; 10 grandchildren, Tre’ Toney of Vidalia, Allison Toney of Natchez, Christina and Troy Thames, of Ruth, Tyler Trout of Brookhaven, Zachary and Benjamin Thames, of Pace, Fla., Amber, Jacob and Shawn Thames, of Brookhaven; four great-grandchildren, Tyson Trout, Cody, Chris and Sarah Toney; one great great-granddaughter, Skylar Toney; one sister, Yvonne Wooten; two uncles, Tommy and Joe Thames; one aunt, Georgie Thames.
Pallbearers will be Tre’ Toney, Zachary Thames, Benjamin Thames, Tyler Trout, Nolan Williamson, Lynn Boyte, Spencer Nutt and Joel Thames.
