NATCHEZ — Friday morning’s inclement weather that swept through Mississippi and Louisiana forced several local and area high school baseball and softball games to be rained out.
Natchez High School’s junior varsity and varsity baseball teams were set to host MHSAA Region 6-5A rival Wingfield High School, but those games were postponed. No make-up date has been announced.
Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s JV and varsity baseball games against MAIS District 7-A opponent Tensas Academy were also a victim of the rough weather. WCCA head coach Kyle White said he was in the process of rescheduling the games, but nothing official has been determined.
Monterey High School’s varsity game against non-district opponent Rapides High School was scheduled to be played exactly one month after it was postponed due to winter weather back on March 4. This time it was the wet and stormy weather that did it in. No make-up date has been announced.
Vidalia High School’s JV and varsity softball teams had their games at Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro, La., rained out. Now Vidalia will host Franklin Parish for a varsity doubleheader today beginning at 2 p.m.
Franklin County High School’s JV and varsity softball games at Enterprise High School in Brookhaven have also been canceled. Franklin County head coach Dana Smith said she doubts if the games will be rescheduled because they are non-region games.
Smith also said that today’s MHSAA Region 7-3A tilt at home against West Marion will still be played. The JV game starts at 11 a.m. and will be followed by the varsity game at 12:30 p.m.
