VIDALIA — The Vidalia Police Department is investigating the stabbing death of a man as a possible suicide.
The man was brought to Natchez Regional Medical Center with a stab wound to the chest and died at approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Adams County Coroner James Lee said.
Vidalia Assistant Police Chief Bruce Wiley said VPD is treating the case as a suicide, but the investigation is ongoing.
The stabbing reportedly happened on Pecan Street in Vidalia.
Lee called the case “very strange.”
An autopsy was conducted in Jackson Monday afternoon, after which Lee said the manner of death would be listed as undetermined on the man’s death certificate.
“I’m not going to elaborate on that, but it is going to take a very good investigative effort from law enforcement in that area to see what happened,” he said. “There’s lots of investigation that has to be done on this case.”
