NATCHEZ — The Adams County Christian School Rebels are continuing a stellar athletic season after winning the track and field district championship at Prentiss Christian School Thursday.
ACCS came off a district championship in football, boys soccer and girls and boys basketball this season a well.
Track coach David King, who also coaches football, said the athletes deserved to see the results of the hard work they’ve put in throughout the year.
“We practice them pretty hard but they bought into what they needed to do,” King said. “I feel this is just the first stop. This is the start of doing great things. The boys hadn’t won (district) in a long time. This will get their confidence up.”
The next step is the South State championship track meet, starting Wednesday with field events and April 26with track events at Silliman Institute.
If the Rebels excel there, they will move on to the state championship meet at Jackson Prep Academy May 2.
“Silliman (Institute) and Centreville (Academy) are the best in the state and they’ll be the two to beat,” King said. “We just have to stay healthy and so far we’ve been lucky.”
