NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Ferd S. Godbold II, 93, of Dallas, formerly of Natchez, who died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his residence in Dallas, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Nance Hixon officiating.
Burial will follow in the cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Godbold was born March 31, 1921, in Greybull, Wyo., the son of Bourke Cochran Godbold and Alma Lucile Godbold.
He graduated from LSU with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Mr. Godbold was an engineer for 42 years for Exxon Oil Company, Texas and Louisiana.
He participated in World War II three and a half years attaining the rank of captain and was a pilot of a B-17, with 35 combat missions in the 15th Air Force. Mr. Godbold received the distinguished flying cross.
Survivors include his wife, Frances G. Godbold; one son Ferd S. Godbold III and wife, Penny, of Dallas; four grandchildren, Melissa of Washington, D.C., Jennifer of Dallas, Emily of Dallas and Christopher B. of Richmond, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church of Natchez or the First Presbyterian Church of Ferriday.
