NATCHEZ — Services for Ann Elizabeth Burns Garrity, 89, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Garrity was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Natchez, the daughter of Francis Parnell Burns and Honora Grady Burns.
She was a member of the Historic Natchez Foundation, Friends Five-O, Adams County Library Association, Fighting Five Class of 1943, Cathedral Athletic Association and St. Mary Basilica.
Mrs. Garrity was preceded in death by her husband, William Byron Garrity Sr.; her parents; one son Francis Leroy Garrity II; four brothers, Patrick Burns, Anthony Burns, Peter Burns and Andrew Burns; three sisters, Mary Agnes Burns Frye, Noreen Burns Aubic and Margaret Burns; and one nephew, James Byron Garrity.
Survivors include two sons, William Byron Garrity Jr. and wife, Dorothy and Joseph G. Garrity and wife, Belinda, all of Natchez; three daughters, Elodie G. Maier and husband, Paul, of Natchez; Marie G. Davis and husband, Richard, of Poplarville, and Mary Agnes “Aggie” G. Shell and husband, Bobby, of Vidalia; 11 grandchildren, Tim Hollywood and wife, Elsbet, of Hammond, La., Mike Hollywood and wife, Mindy, of Franklinton, La., Ben Hollywood and Shaun Hollywood, both of Hattiesburg, Garrett Maier and wife, Allie, of Natchez, Curtis Maier of Hattiesburg, Derrick Garrity and fiancée, Rebecca Stroud, of Hattiesburg, Sarah Garrity of Starkville, Thomas Garrity, Daniel Garrity and Joseph Garrity, all of Natchez; three great-grandchildren, Will Hollywood and Makayla Hollywood, both of Franklinton and Kayla Maier of Natchez; one sister-in-law, Alice Burns of Forest; and number of nephews, nieces and special friends, Sister Mary Junkin and Mary Catherine Loomis.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Garrity, Thomas Garrity, Tim Hollywood, Mike Hollywood, Ben Hollywood, Shaun Hollywood, Curtis Maier and Garrett Maier.
The family would like to thank Jackie White and Ashley Wilson with Deaconess Hospice, her sitters, Daisy Ware, Alice Sudduth and Gilda Myers; her physicians, Dr. Ed Daley, Dr. Rod Givens and Dr. Jack Rodriguez.
